So Taylor Swift got dumped. Again. But this time it wasn’t by a boyfriend – it was by Cameron Mackintosh, the producer of the original stage and upcoming film version of “Les Miserables.”
The country/pop singer has lost out on the role of Eponine in the all-star movie version of the famous stage show to British actress Samantha Barks. Reportedly there were some other big names up for the role, too – including Lea Michele, Evan Rachel Wood, and Scarlett Johansson. Barks, 21, is a musical theatre veteran who performed selections from the show at the 25th anniversary celebration back in 2010 – after being hand-picked by Mackintosh.
Other Taylor Swift news? Well, in a recent issue of “Vogue,” Swift spoke about her upcoming forth album and how it’s influenced by heartbreak. She said, “There’s just been this Earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak and that will turn out to be what the next album is about. The only way I can feel better about myself… pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone… is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity.” Well then…. so “Party Rock Anthem” it won’t be.
The odd thing? Swift, 22, writes about heartbreak - when she’s never been in a long term relationship. Then again, she writes about high school football games that she never went to, because she was homeschooled.
I guess we’ll just call that “extreme poetic licence.”
