The New Idol Judges Don't Hate Each Other

Feud, what feud? That seems to be the official word from the set of American Idol right now – right from the mouth of producer Nigel Lythgoe. When asked about infighting between the new judges (specifically Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj) Lythgoe replied, “Why would there be?” Uh, cuz they’re both divas? “It’s not about them,” Lythgoe continued. “They know that. It’s about the kids that come out there. It really has already become very constructive to the point of we’ll say, ‘Oh for Christs’ sake, shut up. Let’s move on.’ If they’re saying ‘no,’ they’ve got to tell them why they’re saying ‘no’ and how they can improve and come back.” Right.

Carey and Minaj were also quite to dispel any feuding rumors. “It’s been two days!” Carey said. “A feud takes a little longer than two days!” Minaj concurred by saying, “We’re getting along wonderfully, darling.” So take that for what it’s worth.

By the way, original judge Randy Jackson (who said he was leaving.. then didn’t) claimed that if anyone wasn’t getting along, it was he and host Ryan Seacrest. “The problem I’m having is that Ryan keeps wanting to try and have a seat at the judges table,” joked Jackson. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with that.” Uh, maybe give it one more season – and judges turnover – and that might just be the case, right?

Proof that everyone is best friends forever – or until the season is over? The whole group (including the other new judge, country star Keith Urban) recently got together for a nice, peaceful dinner. “Last night we had a couple salads, a little calamari, and a little kale,” said Seacrest.

So what do you think? Is everyone getting along, or is this a positive spin on a negative situation? Let us know in the comments section below!
