The World Cup is underway with the help of a star-studded opening ceremony featuring Jennifer Lopez, rapper Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte.

The three kicked off the festivities in Sao Paulo, Brazil, performing their official FIFA anthem "We Are One (Olé Ola)."

The trio made an entrance on a lotus-shaped platform at the center of the field, surrounded by groups of dancers in costume.  The dancers were dressed as robot-inspired soccer balls, colorful plants, and decked out head-to-toe in the Brazilian team's colors of green and yellow.   Taking turns at center stage for the brief song, Jennifer, Pitbull and Claudia pumped up the crowd by waving their arms back and forth.

J. Lo's appearance comes after a week of speculation and conflicting reports about her appearance at the opening.  In the midst of promoting her new album A.K.A., the superstar assured fans just days before that she wouldn't miss out on the much-anticipated World Cup opener.
