Some Changes For "Idol"

Lots of changes happening at Idol in the off season! So will Seacrest stand alone?

This week Steven Tyler announced that he’s leaving the Fox show, citing to get back on track with Aerosmith. “I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m bacl – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band,” Tyler said. “The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover.” So there you have it. Aerosmith is back… albeit delayed. Aerosmith’s next album – “Music from Another Dimension” – has been pushed back (again) from August to November.

Also on the Idol front: Jennifer Lopez has announced that she, too, will not be returning. “I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that you do, and you have to pay attention to that, too,” Lopez said. “I could keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. I feel like we had an amazing run.”

While Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, and Adam Lambert have been speculated about taking a seat at the judges table, there’s no official news yet on who the replacements will be. There’s also been no final decision made regarding Randy Jackson by Fox or by Jackson himself.

Meanwhile, Philip Philips says, “Remember me?”
